Most Autodesk Vault environments already have automations in place. PDFs are generated from drawings through Job Processor workflows. STEP files and DXFs are published automatically on lifecycle transitions. Drawings are printed in batches. BOM data is exported to ERP on release events. From a technical standpoint, the workflow appears automated.
Engineers on those same teams still verify outputs manually, however.
A drafter republishes a drawing before sending it to manufacturing, even though the Vault Job Processor completed the task successfully. A designer exports a STEP file directly from Inventor Professional because they cannot confirm whether the queued version reflects the latest checked-in revision. A Vault administrator reviews the job queue each morning before production starts using those outputs.
The automation is configured. Confidence in it is not.
