Transfer File BOMs

The workflow allows you to transfers Vault file metadata, file and drawing attachments as well as Bill Of Material information to Fusion Lifecycle at configurable Vault file lifecycle state changes.

Note: It pushes Inventor .iam and .ipt files, their BOMs and attachments from Vault to Fusion Lifecycle.

To extract the BOM Data from the Inventor files Inventor Server is used.
Foreach component in the Structured BOM an according Item will be created and linked to the Fusion Lifecycle header Item in the Fusion Lifecycle.
The Inventor BOM property “Item Number” will be copied to the BOM “Position Number” field, and the Inventor property “Item Quantity” to the BOM “Quantity” field.
The BOM line items and their BOM informations will be updated if they already exit in the Fusion Lifecycle BOM.

For revision-controlled workspaces the latest versions of the items are linked.

Requirement

The Vault Option “Enforce consistent project file for all clients” must be enabled in order for the job to be able to extract the BOM data
More information on how to enable the option can be found here.

Activate Transfer File BOMs

Files, BOMs and file attachments that are attached to drawings in Vault will be transferred from Vault to Fusion Lifecycle on a file lifecycle change of a Vault file.
Therefore each single lifecycle transition state that is used to transfer the BOMs,
must be extended in the Vault configuration with the Custom Job Type: “coolorange.flc.transfer.filebom”.

Configuration

In the Bill Of Materials tab all settings relevant to the BOM transfer can be configured:

1. Fusion Lifecycle

The selected Workspace is used to synchronize Vault BOMs to Fusion Lifecycle item BOMs.

In Fusion Lifecycle the workspace has to be configured properly and must allow users to choose items from this workspace from within the Bill of Materials Tab.

2. Direct Attachments

By activating the Direct Attachment Upload all attachments of the file will be added to the Fusion Lifecycle item as an attachment.
The Fusion Lifecycle Attachment Description will be filled with the value of the selected attachment Vault property.
For the attachment title in Fusion Lifecycle the file name of the Vault attachment will be used.

Design Visualization attachments are not transferred when Vault is configured to break the link between a data file and its corresponding visualization file on a lifecycle state change.

3. Parent Drawing Attachments

By activating the Parent Drawing Attachment Upload, the parent drawing of the file and all its attachments will be uploaded to the Fusion Lifecycle item.
When the parent drawing has multiple views with different parts then also the attachments of those parts (used in the drawing) are uploaded to the same Fusion Lifecycle item.

The Fusion Lifecycle Attachment Description will be filled with the value of the selected attachment Vault property.
For the attachment title in Fusion Lifecycle the file name of the Vault attachment will be used.

4. File Property Mapping

The properties from the Vault column will be copied to the Fusion Lifecycle field chosen in the Fusion Lifecycle column when an item representation of the file is created in Fusion Lifecycle.
As many mappings as needed can be configured. New mapping definitions can be added using the New button and selected definitions can be deleted using the Delete button.

Mandatory fields in Fusion Lifecycle must be mapped with the appropriate Vault property, otherwise the Transfer File BOMs Job will fail.

5. Virtual Component Property Mapping

If there is no file representation of a bom row found in Vault (e.g. if the bom row is a virtual component), the Virtual Component Property Mapping allows to map an Inventor iProperty to a Fusion Lifecycle field.
New mapping definitions can be added using the New button and selected definitions can be deleted using the Delete button.
